Thursday Notice   07-15-10

Jolin
Room 903: We are having a great summer so far.  This week the students are learning about sharks.  Ask your child about something they know about a shark…we have learned some interesting facts. Just a reminder that snack money is due just for July and not August since it is a short month.

Elementary/Jr. High
Room 201: Welcome Roman and Diallo to Room 201!

Room 203: We would like to welcome our new students to our class. We are going to have a great summer session!

High School
The High School Department will be participating in the summer softball activities for PE. Each class has different community outings and events scheduled throughout the summer program.

Quote of the Week
Power always thinks it has a great soul and vast views beyond the comprehension of the weak.

FYI
You may have seen on the news yesterday afternoon and evening that there was some Police activity in SLDC’s neighborhood. The Buena Park Police observed theft from vehicles on one of the parking lots at Knott’s Berry Farm. When they tried to stop the suspects, the suspects attempted to escape and there was a confrontation between the police and the suspects in their van, resulting in gunfire. The suspects then took off on foot and eventually made their way to the neighborhood around SLDC.
- By the time this occurred (around 2:30), SLDC’s students and buses had been off-campus for an hour.
- The SLDC staff members who were still on campus reacted in accordance with their Emergency Response training with a full campus LOCKDOWN.
The only ‘shots fired’ were not near SLDC but at the origin of the incident on Knott’s parking lot.
So congratulations to the Police for ‘nabbing their suspects’, and GOOD JOB, SLDC, for your appropriate response!!
