Jolin Developmental Preschool at SLDC

Individualized
Pre-school
Curriculum

Jolin Developmental Pre-school provides an enriched environment for early childhood development. The individualized curriculum includes:

  • Pre-academic cognitive skills
  • Receptive language and expressive language skills
  • Gross and fine motor skills
  • Self-help skills
  • Social emotional skills
  • Play skills.

The phrase "Natural Environments" is easily explained: typical settings for infants and toddlers. This includes home, community and pre-school settings that would be appropriate for children without special needs. Early intervention services for special needs children must, to the maximum extent appropriate, be provided in "Natural Environments".
(Ref: Title 17, Department of Developmental Services)

Natural Environments

Providing services in "natural environments" setting is not only the law, but it reflects the basic mission of early intervention, which is
  • to support families and
  • to provide learning opportunities for children within the activities, routines and events of everyday life.

Services are delivered where the child lives, learns and plays in order to increase the likelihood that the skills learned will be functionally relevant to the child's natural environment and that the child will practice the skills on an ongoing basis.
