Language
Therapy

Education

| Counseling |
The Counseling Department addresses the emotional and social needs of students. A variety of interventions and tests are utilized to assess and assist students to develop self-esteem as well as the skills necessary for maximum personal and social development. (More) |

at Speech and Language Development Center to benefit students.
Vocational
Services |

The purpose of our Vocational Program is to teach students, ages 14-18, pre-employment and beginning employment skills, including tasks that are specific to some jobs. Agreements with several local businesses bring some tasks that are good learning opportunities for students on-campus where they can acquire skills in a familiar setting. Because SLDC is a WorkAbility1 site, students may earn a ‘salary’ while working in these training jobs.
Vocational Staff members also introduce/reinforce more general issues such as community awareness, safety, money management skills, vocational assessments and career planning while preparing students for the next stage of their vocational journey – off-campus jobs.

Technology
Services |
Students' hands-on access to specialized hardware and software supports classroom activities and enables students to achieve technology standards. (More)

| Health Services |
Our onsite LVN provides medication administration and follow-up on prescribed medications. The nurse also provides staff training on related health issues and serves as the coordinator among parents, physicians, other health-care providers and staff.

The purpose of our Vision Program is to develop students' visual skills to increase their educational readiness and to improve classroom performance.

Hi-Tops Dance Team
 |
The HiTops Dance Team is comprised of nearly 40 current and former SLDC students. The dancers perform regularly at a variety of locations in Orange and Los Angeles counties, and have performed at locations across the country, including Las Vegas, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Hawaii and at the World Special Olympics Games in Connecticut, South Carolina and Iowa.
