Speech and Language Development Center (SLDC) is a regional resource for children
and young adults with special needs. We provide personalized education for infants,
children and young adults (6 months through 21 years) with language, learning and
behavior disabilities. The Center also works with students who are at-risk for such
disabilities.
Many of the Speech and Language Development Center's students have additional handicapping
conditions, including hearing or visual impairment, Autism, Down Syndrome, Attention
Deficit Disorder, severe emotional disturbance, gross and fine motor difficulties.
Non-handicapped children are included in the Centers Full Inclusion classes for
students 6 months through 5th grade.
Speech and Language Development Center was innovative when it was begun in 1955.
It is still a cutting-edge program today, with more than 40 public school districts
throughout Southern California and Regional Centers referring nearly 300 students
to us.
