Each student's performance in social, educational and living skills activities is
charted as part of an overall behavior management program. Through this program,
residents attain privileges, responsibilities and increasing self-determination
as they rise through a level system. Group meetings are held periodically throughout
the day to keep staff and residents informed, and to determine if adjustments in
individual programs are needed. The residents are included in many meetings and
participate in open discussions with peers and staff.
Progress through the six levels of this system is acknowledged at weekly level reviews.
Further motivation for improvement is derived from weekly individual counseling
sessions. Family counseling sessions are also scheduled as appropriate. In addition,
monthly psychiatric reviews determine necessary refinements in individual programs
and medications, as indicated.
