Personal responsibilities are stressed through both the school and residential parts
of the Morning Sky program. Two residents share a bedroom and work cooperatively
to maintain its cleanliness. Additional chores on the facility grounds are also
assigned. Each resident is a member of a dormitory group of four to eight students.
Activities, responsibilities and behavior monitoring are organized around these
social units.
Independent living skills are stressed, such as hygiene, household management skills,
money management, and social expectations. In addition, students visit local community
sites for recreation, shopping and social opportunities. As they advance, there
are also opportunities for the students to experience on-campus employment where
acquired skills can be demonstrated and enhanced.
